Now that we’re a month into the New Year, it’s a good time to assess how those New Year’s resolutions are going. Are your old eating habits sneaking back up on you? Maybe you tried to take on too many changes at once, or you set unrealistic goals or the scale isn’t moving as quickly as you’d like. Maybe a shift in focus is in order. Rather than trying to tackle everything at once, think about a few small changes that you’re confident you can make right away, even today. That way, you’ll build on each small success – and rebuild a healthier diet step by step.
Session number 4…..and it is official Craig Lewis Personal Trainer said I did Exceptionally well!!
Today I jogged most of the 3 mile curcuit and he even included a slight incline…living in Norfolk we dont get many but hey my heart and lungs was telling me it was a HILL !!
As the aches and pains of last weeks exercise session started to fade I actually started to look forward to my next trip to see my Personal Trainer Craig Lewis.
I think the biggest hurdle I had to overcome was in my mind and the thought of what did I look like whilst jumping and bouncing about!!
I arrived bright eyed and bushy tailed and was greeted by Craig who said. “are you ready?” so off we went on our 3 mile warm up curcuit……..one of my goals which I had discussed was that I would love to jog!?!?! Yes crazy but whenever I pass people joggong / running in the road I really admire them and would one day love to be like them!

Well the time has come to step up my weight loss and wellness goals and one of the most important factors is to take an exercise. I have never ‘been’ into exercise although I have had many gym memberships!! Sound familiar? So I have enlisted a personal trainer!! What was I to expect? My first session was on Tuesday and I said to myself I could do this!! We started on a brisk power walk and my heart started to beat harder and harder and my conversation became less!! But I kept at it thanks to Craig pacing me and giving me the necessary encouragement. We went back to the studio and worked on some cardio movements and resistance!! I was focusing on my goal of feeling better in myself due to getting fit!! I want to inspire you to look at your exercise and increase it in whatever way is suitable for you. It might take that first step and making the investment in yourself!!
Does Your Diet Include Variety, Balance, and Moderation?
We crave variety. Humans evolved in surroundings overrun with a huge range of plant foods. And the drive to consume them was nature’s way to ensure that nutrient needs would be met. We carry this same urge with us today – which would still serve us well if we were merely selecting from a spread of edible plants. But we’re not. We’re faced with way too many food choices – not all of them good for us – and studies show that the more choices we have, the more we eat.
What does balance mean? Does it mean you can ‘balance’ a relatively unhealthy food with a healthy one? Do the nutritional positives of a grapefruit balance the negatives of a cream puff? This idea that ‘everything fits’ works out nicely if you plan a diet on paper. You could plan for a fast food burger and fries for lunch, and sandwich it between a really healthy breakfast and dinner. And, if you did the nutrient and calorie calculations for a day like that, it might not look too bad. With careful choices at breakfast and dinner, you could probably keep the days’ calories and fat under control, and even meet many of your nutrient requirements, too.
